Rates & Payment

Rates:

$140 per standard 50 minute session

$210 per 90 minute session - scheduling extended sessions are never a requirement and depend on availability

Payment is due at the time of service.  I accept credit cards, cash, and checks.  I am also able to process HSA cards.

Cancellation Policy:

Sessions are by appointment only. If you must cancel or reschedule an appointment, I require at least 24 hours notice so that I may have the opportunity to schedule another client during that appointment time. Clients who do not provide 24 hours notice that they will not be attending a scheduled session will be billed the full fee for the scheduled therapy service.

Insurance & Benefits

I am not an In Network Provider and therefore, am not able to file claims or accept co-pays as payment for services.  However, I am able to provide Superbills which you may then submit to your healthcare carrier for reimbursement at an Out of Network rate.  Each healthcare plan is unique and I encourage you to contact your provider directly with any questions regarding coverage or reimbursement policies.  I am not able to provide any guarantees of coverage or reimbursement.

Please be aware that the use of healthcare benefits toward therapeutic services requires you, as the client, to receive a mental health diagnosis. Therefore, benefits are not generally applicable to relational issues or group settings.  Any diagnosis becomes a part of the client’s permanent medical record.  In addition, insurance carriers may review your records at their discretion and limit or influence frequency of sessions and therapeutic approach.

Private pay allows you and I to work collaboratively on a treatment plan that meets your needs and takes financial and time investments into consideration.

No Surprises Act

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133 – effective January 1, 2022), health care providers, including mental health professionals, need to give clients or patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This Good Faith Estimate (GFE) shows the costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. The GFE does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You may experience additional charges if complications or exceptional circumstances occur. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute or appeal the bill.

You may contact me to let me know the billed charges are higher than the GFE. You may ask  to update the bill to match the GFE, negotiate the bill, or ask if financial assistance is available. You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about four months) of the date on the original bill. There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this GFE. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the health care provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.

A GFE will be given within the following timeframes from your initial appointment:

  • If the service is scheduled at least three business days before the appointment date, no later than one business day after the date of scheduling;

  • If the service is scheduled at least ten business days before the appointment date, no later than three business days after the date of schedule; or

  • If the uninsured or self-pay client requests a GFE (without scheduling the service), no later than three business days after the date of the request. Healthcare providers must supply a new GFE within the specified timeframes if the patient reschedules the requested item or service.

Note: A Good Faith Estimate is for your awareness only and does not require immediate financial commitment or payment. ICFE clients are ultimately in charge of costs because services are charged at an hourly rate; therefore, your GFE will likely be written to include a wide range of costs in order to take client choice into consideration. For example, clients may choose to attend therapy weekly or biweekly. Frequency of attendance and length of sessions scheduled is the largest factor influencing client cost.
